What We Believe

We state our beliefs in plain, everyday language rather than theological jargon because we want anyone — whether this is your first Sunday or you've been following Jesus for decades — to know exactly where The Crossing stands and to make an informed decision about whether this is the right community for you.

These beliefs are not a checklist for entry but a shared foundation that shapes how we read the Bible together, how we lead, and how we care for people.

Our Core Beliefs

Seven convictions that shape everything we do.

The Bible

The Bible is the inspired Word of God — our final authority for faith, life, and how we do church. We read it as a unified story pointing to Jesus.

One God

We believe in one God who exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — three persons, one being. He is creator, sustainer, and redeemer of all things.

Jesus Christ

Jesus is fully God and fully human. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross to take the penalty for our sin, rose bodily from the dead, and is coming back.

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit lives in every believer, brings transformation, and gives spiritual gifts to build up the Church. We believe his gifts are active today.

Salvation by Grace

We are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone — not by anything we do. Anyone who turns to Jesus receives forgiveness and new life.

Resurrection and Eternity

Jesus rose physically from the dead — and because he did, every believer will also be raised. Death is not the end; eternity with God is the hope we hold.

The Church

The Church is not a building — it's people who follow Jesus together. We are called to love one another, serve our city, and carry the good news to the world.

Shaped by NCMI

The Crossing is affiliated with NCMI (New Covenant Ministries International), a global family of churches rooted in South Africa. NCMI is not a denomination — it is a relational network of churches that share a common set of values and a commitment to planting and strengthening local churches around the world.

The values that shape our culture

  • Local church first — we believe the local church is God's plan A for the world, and we invest everything into making it healthy and strong.
  • Relationally driven — life change happens in the context of real relationships, not programmes; we build community on purpose.
  • Apostolic and prophetic leadership — we honour the fivefold ministry gifts and believe God still speaks into and directs his Church today.
  • Every believer a minister — ministry is not reserved for the platform; every person is called, gifted, and needed in the body of Christ.
  • Discipleship as a lifestyle — following Jesus is not a Sunday activity but a whole-life apprenticeship that we help one another walk out.
  • Global mission — our reach extends beyond Midrand; we partner with churches and missionaries around the world to see the gospel advance.
